Does It Matter If You Train Your New Puppy?
So you brought home your brand new puppy. Dog obedience training is the last thing on your mind. Oh, you know you will have to train your dog to go to the bathroom outside but that is no big deal.
You can happily see just what your life is going to be like together now that you have a new best friend. Your anxious to take him to the park with you so you can run and play together through the green meadows. There will be no need for a leash because your dog will stay right by your side and you will take him where ever you go.
He might even be your child’s best friend. They will spend long summer days playing and getting into mischief just the way a kid and their dog are supposed to . Life is going to be fantastic!
Then reality sets in.
Your well mannered dog refuses to go to the bathroom outside and thinks your couch is the best place to sleep. He snubs his nose at his food and instead forges the counter to find a meal fit for a king. Your carpet is a digging zone.
Forget the fact that your dog has a zillion chew toys and bones laying around the house, the sides of your recliner are so much better to chew on. He is constantly barking out of the windows and all of your hopes and dreams having a well mannered dog have vanished.
Now what do you do?
Well, getting rid of the horrible dog is not an option because even if you wish it for a second he get the biggest, mournful eyes when he is in trouble. He really loves you and you him.
If only he would be better behaved it would all be wonderful.
Well, my friend, the answer to your problem is good old fashioned dog obedience training and that does not mean going to a dog training class a handful of time with a half hearted attempt to train your dog. Your dog needs training on an on going basis but it is really not as difficult as you might think it would be. Dogs really love to please so when you two finally figure out how to properly communicate and he knows what to expect, he will go out of his way to make you happy.
Owning a puppy can be challenging and chances are you will run into some dog training problems in the process. As long as your persistent you will get there so never give up. Did you know that you can actually use dog training methods when dealing with teething puppies?
