The Bait That Never Dies

by Hasse Hansen

When you are fresh in the fishing game you have a lot of different choices you have to make. One of the most important is what kind of bait you should buy. Most of them can without much sacrifice be ignored and forgotten.

Be careful when you ignore bait, there is at least one kind you should not rule out so quickly. It is one of the lures that catches most fish, and it is one of the bestsellers in the stores.

The bait that I am talking about is the spinner. This bait has been used for so many years that it, in normal circumstances would have been retired. That is not the case with spinners. With all the new technology in the fishing industry, these old school spinners still do the trick just as good as any other lures. If not better!

The obvious first choice of anyone who tries to catch a trout should be a spinner. They can be used in just about any situations, from still water to streaming rivers. Today there are plenty of different spinners to choose from in the stores. The two companies who probably sell the most is Mepps and Blue Fox. Of course, there are some local variations but on the market as a whole these two are on top.

If we can talk about legends among spinners, Mepps Black Fury is probably the biggest legend of all. When someone hears the word spinner, they usually think about this one. When it comes to catching the most trout, Black Fury leads by a mile.

Blue Fox most known spinners is the Vibrax series. It is also one of the classic spinners that almost everyone has tried. Compared to the Black Fury, you have a lot more colors to choose from with your Vibrax spinner.

Spinners does not catch fish with no trick up its sleeve. The most important part of the success story is the movement it has in the water. When that movement is combined with a low humming sound, the fish just can’t help themselves.
