Getting Started Guide

Introduction

With so many people all over the world wanting, and in some cases needing, to earn some more money: be it a little extra pocket money each week, or wanting to quit the rat race entirely and have the ability to be their own boss and set their own hours, more and more of us are turning to the internet for help.

A small majority of people will find the perfect business or idea immediately and will soon be well on their way to earning that extra income. Unfortunately for the rest of us we may soon find ourselves struggling to both understand what it is these self professed gurus are talking about, and knowing just what is a worthwhile investment as opposed to business venture that will end up costing you much more than what you want to, or can even afford, to spend.

With that in mind, and being one who has joined or subscribed to more ‘guaranteed’ money making opportunities that I’d care to mention, I’ve decided to share what little I’ve learnt and to also pass on what I’ve found to, if not provide me with an income, at least prove their worth either via delivering what they promise or have proven that with time and effort they will garner me enough income that I can actually start believing I’m on the right path.

I can only hope that the information provided within these pages will be as useful to you as they have proven to be to me.

Important Reminders

Before I even begin to share some of the information and programs there’s a few things I’d like to remind you about.

Never spend more than you can afford. I know it’s pretty obvious, but it seems that more often than not too many people are swayed by the idea that if they spend a few dollars on a super dooper guaranteed to double your money overnight program all their worries will be over, only to find they never see those few dollars again. While not every program is a scam, unfortunately some of them will be, so before spending any of your hard earned cash, check and double check on both the program you’re looking into and whether or not you can truly afford it.

Most of what I will be listing below will be free. As one of those that believes you’re better off putting in a little hard work to earn your money, I must warn you now that anything you see below will require a little time and effort on your part.

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Again probably something you already know but it bears repeating.

Free doesn’t always mean bad. As I mentioned above most of what I’m going to provide below will be free, though they do all give you the opportunity upgrade membership levels etc, you don’t necessarily have to do it – again put in the work yourself and you won’t need to pay for most of these programs.

The Opportunities available.

If you happened to type in work at home or something similar you’ll soon find yourself inundated with a variety of ways to make money to the point that you may not even know where to start. From affiliate programs to niche sites and money randomisers to answering surveys the list is endless, the problem is in knowing what will best suit your needs. To be honest I know nothing about randomisers (and I doubt their legal) so I won’t be mentioning them at all. I’m going to stick to what I know more about, and to my mind provide you the best chance to start earning that extra income you’re after.

Online Surveys

You don’t need to pay! Just thought I’d point that out. There are many survey companies that are more than happy to provide you with surveys free and while it may take a little while to start earning enough cash or points that can be redeemed, they are free to join. I’ve never paid to join a survey site and I never will, the few places I deal with have all paid me as promised without any fuss or hassle.

If you’d like to know more I wrote an article about it a little while ago which you can find Online Surveys

Affiliate Programs

Probably the easiest way to get started as everything you need is already provided. Of course the best way to promote affiliate programs is to use them in conjunction with your own website or niche product. I’ll go into a little more detail about niche sites shortly, but for now here’s a couple of affiliate programs you may be interested in. When joining any affiliate program, always look for the free to join or publisher/affiliate etc link.

Pay Per Play:  This gives you the ability to earn every time your website is seen. Find out more here: Pay Per Play

Commission Junction: If you have a website and you’d like to incorporate the promotion of  products and services of other companies Commission Junction is a great place to start. With an abundance of advertisers covering a huge variety of products and services there is sure to be something of interest to you and your customers/readers.

Site Build It.: Another great affiliate program that provides everything you need from promotional ebooks to email messages. An example free ebook can be found here

Search Estate: The bonus of Search Estate is that in essence it gives you a webpage to promote any business or opportunity you wish.

If you’re interested in some other affiliate programs I’ve been trying you might want to take a look at my work from home blog

Niche Sites

In my mind this is probably the best way to get started earning an income from home. It will require time and effort, but the rewards far outweigh any work you put into it.

In a nutshell a niche site is a webpage/site that covers one topic. That topic can be anything you wish, though generally you’d want to start with something you know about: from dogs to motorbikes, everyone is looking for information and if you can provide it for them you’re well on you way to earning the money you’re after.

Another program you may find very useful either as a way of supplementing your income on your own website, or selling your own ebooks etc is clickbank. Search through clickbank and you’ll find a plethora of information products etc that can be sold on your site.

There are many other ways to earn an income with your niche sites from adding text advertising: income streams

Other useful tools

As you begin wading through all the information you will no doubt find as you begin your journey to working from home you may soon find yourself getting lost amongst all the tools, tips and tricks people will offer you. I know I got to the point where I was constantly joining new programs or downloading different tools only to find myself forgetting what I already had or joining the same newsletter etc more than once.

After whittling all the emails I was receiving down to the bare minimum I’ve found these things listed below to prove the most beneficial to me. You may or may not find these useful for your venture, but you might want to take a look at them.
